“The fire may be small, but its impact goes far beyond the flames.”
Smoke over the Hills
Looking at this scene, I can't help but think about how long it took for these hills to become green.
A single fire may seem small against such a vast landscape, but its impact extends far beyond the patch of land it burns. Trees take years, sometimes decades, to grow and support the ecosystems.
But when a fire breaks out, it does not just consume greens; it destroys habitats, degrades soil quality, and most importantly, releases harmful pollutants into the air. While the smoke eventually fades from view, the damage often remains long after.
Recovery is a slow process, and some losses can never be fully restored.
Sometimes protecting a forest starts with understanding how much can be lost from what seems like a small and distant flame.
