SafaHawa policy

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how SafaHawa handles story submissions, private photo evidence metadata, and public display. It is a product policy, not legal advice.

What We Collect

When you submit a memory, SafaHawa collects the story, caption, selected location, tags, display name, optional contact email, account details for registered contributors, and the uploaded photo.

Before upload, SafaHawa may read selected metadata from the original photo, including date taken, GPS coordinates when present, camera make and model, lens/software fields, image dimensions, orientation, and explicit AI/provenance signals.

We do not intentionally collect camera serial numbers or unrelated raw EXIF fields for this feature.

Why We Collect Photo Metadata

Photo metadata helps moderators review whether a submission is consistent with the contributor's story, location, and timing.

GPS, date, and device details can support authenticity checks, abuse prevention, evidence preservation, and campaign accountability if a disputed submission needs later review.

EXIF metadata is not treated as perfect proof. It can be missing, stripped, inaccurate, or manipulated, so SafaHawa uses it as supporting evidence for human review.

Who Can See Private Metadata

Precise GPS coordinates, date-taken data, device details, and AI/provenance metadata are stored privately and are visible only to authorized SafaHawa staff and administrators who review submissions.

This private metadata is not shown on public story pages, public profiles, the photo archive, search pages, sitemaps, or public-facing APIs.

SafaHawa may preserve private metadata with the submission record for moderation, audit, dispute handling, and lawful evidence needs.

Public Display

If a submission is approved, SafaHawa may publicly display the photo, caption, story, selected public location label, tags, contributor display name, and related campaign context.

Public SafaHawa pages do not reveal precise EXIF GPS coordinates or the private evidence metadata collected during submission.

Anonymous submissions are displayed with an anonymous contributor label unless SafaHawa and the contributor agree otherwise.

Storage, Security, And Retention

SafaHawa stores submissions and selected metadata in its Supabase-backed systems with role-based access controls.

Service-role credentials and private metadata are kept server-side. SafaHawa does not commit production secrets to the codebase.

Submission records may be retained for campaign memory, moderation history, auditability, and dispute resolution unless deletion is required or approved.

Your Choices And Contact

You can choose not to submit a photo or story if you do not want SafaHawa to process the related metadata.

You may contact SafaHawa to ask about your submission, request correction, request removal from public display, or raise a privacy concern.

For privacy requests, email info@safahawa.com with enough detail to identify the submission. SafaHawa may need to verify your relationship to the submission before making changes.

By submitting a memory, you also agree to the Terms of Use.
